Last night, Lil’ Kim’s "Return of The Queen" tour hit The Paradise Theater in the Bronx where she was joined by Eve, Missy Elliot & Pep on stage. See pics inside and check out Kim performing with "Mob Wives" star Drita.

Lil’ Kim’s star-studded "Return Of The Queen" tour made it’s way to NYC last night. Her longtime friends and fellow rapstresses like Drita, Somaya Reece and a very pregnant Yandy Smith hit up the performance:

The Queen brought out some of her musical besties like Missy, Eve, Salt & Pepa and "Mob Wives" star Drita.

Juelz Santana also hit the stage with The Queen.

It was a sold out show for the Queen Bee. It’s great to see female rappers unite.

Has The Queen officially returned?

‘Two turntables and a microphone, that’s all it took to change the world,’ Em says of his heroes.
By Gil Kaufman

On the night when Run-DMC became only the second hip-hop act to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it was fitting that the group that blazed the trail between rock and rap in the 1980s was invited into the rarified club by a hip-hop icon of the modern era whose career is built on their bedrock: Eminem.

His sartorial style inspired by his heroes, from the black leather jacket, shirt and pants, to the black fedora tilted on his head, Eminem bounded onto the stage with a pimping swagger and crossed his arms in a Run-DMC style as he leaned into the microphone.

"Two turntables and a microphone, that's all it took to change the world," the reclusive Detroit MC began. "Three kings from Queens made rap music in the b-boy stance a global phenomenon," he said of the group's members, rappers Joseph "Reverend Run" Simmons and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, and late DJ Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell. (Head to the MTV Newsroom to read the e-mail JMJ's close friend Eric "Shake" James sent to MTV News while he witnessed the ceremony.)

After the first time he heard the group's "hard beats and bold rhymes," at age 11, Eminem recalled that "something about the big drums and the strong raps that grabbed hold of my ears and changed my life." Clearly humbled by the honor, Slim Shady's speech had a lyrical groove as he added, "Something fresh, something tough. Something dangerous. Something beautiful and something unique. Two turntables and a microphone," staring out at the crowd and rubbing his hands together as if savoring the treat of setting up his heroes for the glory they so richly deserve.

Recalling how their 1985 video for "King of Rock" had them crashing a fictional Rock and Roll Museum and being told they didn't belong in such a museum, Eminem said, "And 25 years later, man, here we are. They didn't take no for an answer, much the same way as they didn't give up when much of the world refused to recognize rap as real music. They were the first rock stars of rap. They were the first movie stars of rap. They were the first rap group played on MTV. … They were the baddest of the bad, the coolest of the cool. Two turntables and a microphone."

Em talked about not knowing what he wanted to do in life while growing up in Detroit and then hearing Run-DMC and realizing "that you could write your own rules, which is something that still inspires me, as well as every rap other artist, constantly." And then the crowd finally caught on to the rhythm of Slim's callback refrain and repeated along with him, "Two turntables and a microphone."

"I remember being in ninth grade when Raising Hell came out," he recalled, and wryly added, "Two years later, I still remember being in ninth grade when Tougher Than Leather came out. I had skipped school, if you can believe that, to go buy Tougher Than Leather on cassette the day it came out. As soon as I heard 'Run's House,' man, it was pretty much a rap for me. Marshall Mathers became Eminem. It was the first time Run-DMC had changed my life, but it wouldn't be the last. Two turntables and a microphone."

Bringing the group's indelible career into the present, Em paid tribute to late DJ Mizell's mentorship of Slim's protégé, 50 Cent. "Jay shaped the way 50 wrote, the way he rapped and the way he thought," Em said of Fif, whose early works were overseen by Mizell. "Again, Run-DMC changed my life. Without them I wouldn't have met one of my closest friends."

Eminem closed by saying that the group's impact can be felt everywhere. Echoing one of the group's most famous couplets from "King of Rock," Em concluded, "There's three of them, and if you grew up on hip-hop like I did, they are the Beatles."

With their friends and family surrounding them onstage, Rev Run first thanked Mizell's mother for always allowing the young trio to practice at her home and never asking them to turn down the volume. He also thanked his brother, hip-hop impresario Russell Simmons, who convinced the group to change their name from the Sure Shot Three and to mash rock with their rap.

Paying touching homage to his adoptive parents, DMC urged the crowd to give love to foster children. "If my birth mother never gave me up, my real mother would have never came and got me," he said, hitting on one of the topics that has become his abiding passion since the group broke up in 2002 following Jay's still unsolved murder. "There would be no Run-DMC; there would be no rap music the way it is today. … But forget about all that celebrity stuff, y'all. This little boy, Darryl McDaniels, wouldn't be standing here tonight telling y'all that. The best thing y'all can do is give love to a kid, because that kid may grow up and be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame one day."

Mizell's mother, Connie Mizell, also reminisced lovingly about how her late son tore up every one of her turntables learning how to scratch, and she didn't mind. And how "the boys" would be tearing it up in the next room as she studied in the adjoining room, and she didn't mind. "Nothing happens before time," she said. "It wasn't time when Jason was living. It was time after he'd gone. Because you see the blessings is still going on. He is not forgotten."

The group did not perform at the ceremony, in keeping with their pledge not to play live again following Mizell's death.

Fans had very strong reactions when MTV News reported about the rumored couple.

They're not talking — but you certainly are.

On Wednesday, we posted some compelling evidence that Swift and Styles might be linked up (Exhibit A: This video, in which 1D rib their bandmate about Taylor during an MTV News interview), and fans certainly had their opinions on the potential pair.

Many readers chalked it up to one more dude caught in the Taylor Swift rumor mill. "I think it's time to stop the Taylor Swift likes whoever nonsense," BrianC6234 wrote in the MTV News comments section. "First of all, why does it matter? But even if you care, these rumors have all been false. Isn't she dating that guy from 'Les Miserables'? I mean Zac Efron. Wait, no, it's Tim Tebow. Get the point?"

"These rumors have always been wrong," WeeRu chimed in. "Chord Overstreet, that guy from Parachute, Zac Efron and now Harry Styles? I don't think so."

RachV2389 added: "Guy after guy. Well … she hasn't had a song about a British boy yet!"

A lot of Taylor fans out there are hopeless romantics, just like their idol, and have their fingers crossed that the One Direction heartthrob is "The One" for Swift. "Harry is a good guy," xLara_Stylesx wrote. "If you watch all his videos you will see that he has a good personality. And Taylor deserves a boyfriend like him (:"

"I love them both," mrs.worldwide said. "It would be nice if they were together." (BTW, should we get started on the joint nickname? We're thinking Haylor or Swiftles.)

But it wasn't all roses and sunshine: Some short-and-not-so-sweet reactions to the news included "SWEET BABY JESUS NO" and "no, please no!"

"Heeeck no," Stephanie Lynn Roberts posted on MTV News' Facebook page. "Harry has class. TSwift would just break up with him to get a new hit song."

Some fans pointed out the age difference between the 18-year-old boy bander and 22-year-old country superstar. "Come on, Taylor, the kid is only 18," Ariela M. Garcia wrote, which prompted Facebook user Holly McQuithey to point out Styles' 32-year-old ex. "Harry dated Caroline Flack. There is no age limit for that boy. Let him be happy."

But one reader, MinkenGjerald, really made us laugh with their reason the couple will never work: "Well… no.. Harry is a sex bomb and Taylor is so innocent."

WWE superstar gives props to band’s ‘in-your-face, time-to-fight music.’ Voting in round two ends Sunday at midnight!
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Rob Markman

Voting in the second-round of MTV's Musical March Madness is entering the home stretch and, well, it's not looking good for Metallica. After disposing of fellow titans Guns N' Roses in round one, James Hetfield and company currently trail upset-minded Sum 41 by an "Unforgiven"-size margin … and appear headed for the void.

Of course, there's still plenty of time to change things — voting in all second-round matchups closes Sunday at midnight ET — and, as luck would have it, Metallica are getting support from a rather unlikely source: WWE superstar John Cena, who would like to strongly encourage you to vote for his favorite band. And we mean strongly.

"If you don't vote Metallica strong, you ain't been around music. They're my vote to take it," Cena told MTV News. "Because, like I say, I use music for energy. I'm involved in a lot of physical activity, a lot of times when you're tired, you need to find energy from somewhere, and music evokes emotion. And Metallica, I don't care who you are, they play 'Enter Sandman' at Yankee Stadium, and it's a wrap."

So no offense to Sum 41, but for Cena, there's nothing quite like the surge of "Sandman." And while he's probably got his mind on other things (like his year-in-the-making match with the Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII), he'll be pulling for Metallica to make a comeback and advance to the Sweet 16. Why?

Classic disco tunes found their way into just about every corner of our culture, from ‘American Idol’ to Beyoncé’s ‘Naughty Girl.’
By John Mitchell
Donna Summer
Photo: Harry Langdon/Getty Images
The death of Donna Summer on Thursday (May 17) at age 63 after a long battle with cancer has many reflecting on the impact the disco legend had on music.
While many may not realize it, Summer is the foremother of, well, just about every pop song on the radio today. Her iconic 1977 anthem “I Feel Love,” which peaked at #6 on the Billboard singles chart (one of 14 top 10 hits), was the first mainstream song to be produced using an entirely synthesized backing track. Until then, most disco recordings had been backed by acoustic orchestras, and the reception to the song revolutionized music.
“One day in Berlin, [Brian] Eno came running in and said, ‘I have heard the sound of the future,’ ” David Bowie famously wrote in the liner notes to Sound and Vision. “He puts on ‘I Feel Love,’ by Donna Summer. … He said, ‘This is it, look no further. This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next 15 years.’ Which was more or less right.”
Indeed, imagine the music of Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Katy Perry and countless others minus their ubiquitous glittering synths. You can’t. Without what was at the time a risky and bold move, modern dance music might not exist as it does today.
Summer’s impact on music is so vast it’s nearly incalculable, but in memory of the disco diva, we’re looking back on some of the ways her music has survived through the years, has been brought to life by other artists and how many of music’s biggest names counted themselves as fans of the Queen of Disco.
» The refrain from Summer’s 17-minute 1975 breakthrough “Love to Love You Baby” is sampled on Beyoncé’s hit “Naughty Girl” from her debut solo album Dangerously in Love.
For photos of Donna Summer through the years, click here.
» For the elaborate opening sequence of Madonna’s 2006 Confessions Tour, a 2-ton, $4 million disco ball was lowered onto the stage at the end of the runway and then opened to reveal the star, who started into her own synth-heavy “Future Lovers” before the song dissolved seamlessly into Summer’s “I Feel Love.”
» Summer’s “Starting Over Again” was transformed into a #1 country hit for Dolly Parton in 1980, and even reached the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, a rare feat for a country track at the time. Fifteen years later, another country superstar, Reba McEntire, named her 1995 album after the song, and her version was a hit country single the following year. In the set’s liner notes, McEntire dedicated the song to both Summer and Parton, saying she admired both immensely.
» Summer’s classics were go-to songs for films looking to capture the late-’70s/early-’80s era and are featured in, among many others, “Frost/Nixon,” “Charlie Wilson’s War” and “Splash.”
» “Hot Stuff” and “MacArthur Park” are go-to songs for reality singing contestants looking to prove their range — Summer was a mezzo-soprano with a powerhouse delivery — while keeping things upbeat. Both songs have been performed on “The X Factor” and “American Idol.”
» “She Works Hard for the Money” was covered by Kris Allen during an episode of “American Idol,” and his performance was so well-received that the season-eight winner recorded the track for the American Idol Season 8 CD.
» Summer herself appeared as Aunt Oona from Altoona on two episodes of the hit sitcom “Family Matters.”
» Bruce Springsteen was a big Summer fan and wrote two songs for her. The first one, “Cover Me,” he ultimately recorded for his own Born to Run, but Summer recorded the second, “Protection,” and Springsteen and the E Street Band supplied the track.
» Keri Hilson portrayed Summer in her music video for her 2010 hit “Pretty Girl Rock.”
» Summer is easily one of the most sampled artists in the history of music. “I Feel Love” has been sampled by some of the biggest artists in dance, from Madonna and Britney Spears to David Guetta and Moby, and covered by artists as diverse as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kylie Minogue and Blondie.
Share your condolences for Donna Summer’s friends, family and fans in the comments or on Facebook.

"OK, I'm young and I'm tatted/ I get them bucks like an addict/ Rocking this Christian Dior/ I spend so much on my fabric/ I got a wifey at home/ And what she wants she can have it," he spits before going on about chilling on the beach, being rich and his prowess in the bedroom.

Sitting in between Wiz and Tip is Andre's recycled verse, before T.I. gets his shot and gets sexy, asking Ke$ha, "Do you know what to do with me?" before he launches into a verse all about how good he is to the ladies. "Bad bitches know me/ So don't bother introducing me/ They want me more than diamonds," he brags before explaining that it has a lot to do with his impressive anatomy.

Wayne closes it out, adding his own signature flair. "We be on that sh– that no one be on/ That's what we on/ Smoke that neon, Kings of Leon/ Dynamite, Napoleon/ Got some skinnies and a tee on/ And some Vans," he rhymes about his famous sense of Weezy-fied style before the song circles back to the funky chorus, where Ke$ha declares that she doesn't "need you or your brand-new Benz/ Or your bougie friends/ I don't need love lookin' like diamonds/ Lookin' like diamonds."

If any of K's fans or critics were wondering if she has the swagger to chill with the guys, she displayed some of her sass when she tweeted about the remix. "Question ANIMALS … who can say they got with Lil Wayne, T.I., Andre 3000 and Wiz Khalifa on a f—ing hot track??" she asked. "ill give u one clue … Its $."

What do you think of the "Sleazy" remix? Tell us in the comments!

Song about missing someone ‘represents the album’ well, singer says.

Avril Lavigne lets her guard down on her Goodbye Lullaby single "Wish You Were Here." The poignant track is about pining away for that one person you let slip away. The emotional pull of the track, produced by Max Martin and Shellback, is the perfect tune for anyone who's not able to be with the ones they love this holiday season.

"I'm excited about 'Wish You Were Here' being the single because it's a ballad and the song kind of represents the album definitely more so than the first single," she told MTV News about the song, which she performed during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade last week. "That was kind of more my older stuff and more pop rock and aggressive and a lighter subject. Goodbye Lullaby, for me, was a record that I was writing for myself."

"Wish You Were Here" and its simple, Dave Meyers-directed video really sum up the album for Lavigne. "It was more raw and stripped-down and more emotional and I wasn't holding back," she said of working on the album. "[It's] sort of more song driven and the production was mainly just like a lot of acoustic guitars and loops and just all about the vocal; the vocal being clear and having an honest emotion to it. And saying that, yeah, the first two singles ['What the Hell' and 'Smile'] were more pop rock, and so now finally with this one, 'Wish You Were Here,' being released, it feels right."

The song comes from a place deep inside and is very much about someone in Lavigne's life. "I love this song. I like this song because I wrote it about missing somebody and that's something that we all go through at some point in our lives," she explained. "It's just about looking back and remembering all those good times you shared with somebody, all the crazy moments. And that's life. We all experience that at some point, but it has a positive message."

Sure, anyone can hold an album-listening party at some record label's headquarters or, to really mix it up, some swanky nightclub. But for Usher, that just wasn't enough. When he was looking for a way to debut tracks off Looking 4 Myself, out June 12, he found another way to spread the word.

Last month, Usher appeared in the off-Broadway show "Fuerza Bruta," in which he played the male lead, Running Man, for one night only. During the show, he played all his newest, shiniest tracks for lucky theatergoers. When MTV News spoke to him exclusively during rehearsals, he explained that his part in "Fuerza" provided the perfect pairing between the themes on his album and the visuals of the play.

"I mean, life is like that in a lot of ways. "I'm always trying to find very creative ways for the music and the art to work together and this is it. I only hoped it would be viewed in that way, in an unprecedented way. I hoped that people would be able to identify with it and become acclimated with my experience in a fun way, creative. ‘I could get whatever I want,’ 21-year-old Harlem rapper tells MTV News about her new record deal with Kanye West.
By Nadeska Alexis
Teyana Taylor collaborated with Kanye West on his 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and now, as an official member of the G.O.O.D. Music team, the Harlem rapper confirms that she will also appear on the upcoming G.O.O.D. compilation album.
When MTV News caught up with Taylor after news broke that she’d officially been added to the Def Jam roster, she said the deal was finalized in April. “I had been actually working with the whole G.O.O.D. Music family for quite a while,” she explained. “Around the time we did the ‘Dark Fantasy’ song, I was still in my contract with Star Trak/Interscope Records, and I asked for release because I wanted to find myself as an artist. I had options to go to different labels, but I felt like G.O.O.D. Music was where I wanted to be, where I fit in.
“This is the second go ’round for me, and hopefully, the second time’s the charm,” the 21-year-old continued. “I signed to Star Trak with Pharrell when I was 15, and now I’m at a new chapter in my life where I’m signed to G.O.O.D. Music, and I’m blessed and happy to be part of the team.”
The rapper, singer, writer and actress said the new deal will definitely improve her worth ethic. “Being signed to G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam has opened more doors now that I finally have a team behind me that can push me to work harder,” she said.
Taylor has already recorded her tracks for the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album, another humbling experience. “Recording ‘Dark Fantasy’ and recording the G.O.O.D. Music album was both crazy,” she shared. “When we did ‘Dark Fantasy,’ the album had to be turned in in three hours, so that was a song that we made happen so last minute, which happened to be the first song on the album, so that was very exciting.
“The same amount of work, same amount of pressure, same amount of heart, intensity, passion [went into recording the G.O.O.D. Music LP]. It was a great experience to be able to work with someone like Kanye and with Pusha T, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Common and the whole G.O.O.D. family. When it’s time to do something, we all come together, we make it work, everyone’s focused.”
Taylor recorded with West in both Los Angeles and New York, laughing off rumors that the crew ticked off the Royal Family while recording in London.
Right now, Taylor is simply enjoying her new family circle. “I am the princess of G.O.O.D. Music, the first lady of G.O.O.D. Music, the baby of G.O.O.D. Music,” she said, laughing. “I’m kinda the spoiled brat right now. I could get whatever I want.”

NEW YORK — On a windy Saturday last month, the Paradise Theater in the Bronx was an undulating sea of sequins, stilettos and star power as the 2011 edition of Black Girls Rock! got under way.

An annual celebration of the accomplishments of black women in a myriad of spheres, from science and technology to the arts and politics, the event is the brainchild of philanthropist Beverly Bond, a onetime model/DJ. Imagine balling up the sentiments of your favorite empowerment anthem into a fist and then sprinkling them like confetti over a gathering of girls, and you might begin to get an idea of what it felt like to sit in that majestic theater during the taping of the show that night. You'll get to see for yourself when it airs Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on BET.

Actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King opened their co-hosting gig — dressed in an ebony gown and an ivory sequined pantsuit, respectively — with some funny banter about their mutual connection to all-grown-up "Cosby" kid Malcolm-Jamal Warner (Ellis Ross plays Warner's wife on the brand-new BET sitcom "Reed Between the Lines," while King is his real-life leading lady). Over the course of the night, with assists from a series of celeb presenters like former MTV VJ LaLa Anthony and model Alek Wek, "BGR" '11 gave special nods to some much-deserving honorees. The Brandeis-educated Davis went on to spend the next few decades crusading for marginalized groups like African-Americans, women and prisoners.

The winner of this year's Icon Award admitted she used to feel "embarrassed" seeing her face staring back at her from T-shirts until she realized that the garments represented the "translation of the success of a movement." Co-hosts Ellis Ross and King weren't the only big- and small-screen stars to grace the stage. Taraji P. Henson was honored with the Star Power prize. In an upbeat acceptance speech, the extroverted Henson reminisced about praying for "longevity" back in those early casting call days.

Catch "Black Girls Rock!" ‘This is a family affair, man,’ Wiz tells MTV News while shooting a clip for his upcoming stoner comedy with Snoop.

MONTCLAIR, California — Big Snoop D-O-Double-G celebrates his 40th birthday Thursday (October 20), but on Wednesday night, he was all business.

Well, business as usual. Snoop spent the evening shooting a music video with Wiz Khalifa for the track "Young, Wild & Free." It's the first song from the soundtrack of the duo's upcoming stoner comedy, "Mac & Devin Go to High School."

It was quite a spectacle on the video set. The mellow MCs took over a drive-in movie theater an hour outside Los Angeles with tons of tricked-out rides and a variety of video vixens. The clip was directed by Dylan Brown, who also handled directing duties on the film.

"This is a family affair, man," Wiz told MTV News. "Everybody that you see was all involved with the project. We all got love for each other, and you know, we just keeping it moving, right?"

"Yeah that's all," Snoop added. "We just having fun. We at a big drive-in theater so we could have as many people and have as many things happen as possible in the celebration of being young, wild, and free — having a good time."

And clearly they were having a good time. One scene saw Snoop and Wiz romping around the parking lot in some souped-up off-road karts, loaded with a crew of cuties.

"That's definitely going along with the theme of being young, wild, and free — just having fun, wild'n out," Wiz said. "The whole theme of the video, we just getting it crackin' in the parking lot, man, just turning this thing out. So we had a couple little of our friends in the car, and we drove fast."

"I had to level out the playing field," Snoop admitted, with his kart holding a few extra girls than Wiz's. "I had to have some, ahem, weight issues, so I had to have some girls roll with me to level out my car."

If you're wondering how this whole scene ties into the high school flick, the Doggfather has you covered.

"We got some more party scenes where we just gonna be doing our verses and having the scenes from the movie play on the big screen from the actual movie 'Mac & Devin Go to High School,' " Snoop said. "So people get a chance to see a few scenes and see us perform at the same time."

The song itself got production help from Bruno Mars and quickly came together.

"[Bruno Mars] sent me the music and I played the music for Wiz and he loved it and we came together," Snoop said. "That's what we do: We make good music. If you've got a great idea, which was started by Bruno, and me and Wiz, we take it to the next level, gave it back to Bruno. He tightened up the edges, and now it's a complete situation."

Look for the soundtrack in December, just in time for the holiday season, followed by the film's release in February.

‘The Social Network’ screenwriter will adapt the Apple co-founder’s biography for the big screen.

From “The Social Network” to “Moneyball,” screenwriter Aaron Sorkin‘s work has been widely praised — the former landing him an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Now he’s turning his sights to the highly anticipated “Steve Jobs.” Sony Pictures Co-Chairman Amy Pascal and president of Columbia Pictures Doug Belgrad announced Tuesday that Sorkin will pen the script based on the best-selling biography by award-winning journalist Walter Isaacson.
“Steve Jobs,” published October 2011, was Amazon’s best-selling book last year with sales exceeding 2,200,000. Sony bought the movie rights before the tome even released. Pascal commented on the announcement, saying, “Steve Jobs’ story is unique: He was one of the most revolutionary and influential men not just of our time but of all time. There is no writer working in Hollywood today who is more capable of capturing such an extraordinary life for the screen than Aaron Sorkin; in his hands, we’re confident that the film will be everything that Jobs himself was: captivating, entertaining, and polarizing.”
Mark Gordon, Scott Rudin and Guymon Casady will produce the project.
This film is not to be confused with the other Jobs biopic, tentatively titled “Jobs: Get Inspired,” starring Ashton Kutcher.
Sorkin is currently in production for HBO’s “The Newsroom,” which is set to premiere on June 24. He’ll also try his hand as a librettist for the first time on Broadway’s 2013-14 production of “Houdini,” starring Hugh Jackman.

Pop star’s post-workout tweet criticized by eating-disorder association.
By John Mitchell

What was clearly intended as a jokey tweet lamenting the rigorous diet and exercise routine she is currently undertaking to prepare for her 110-date Born This Way Ball has put Lady Gaga in the crosshairs of some angry fans and eating-disorder organizations.
On Tuesday, the pop star tweeted, "Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay." Some fans thought the tweet wasn't exactly keeping with the pop star's "You're perfect the way you are" message and that her choice of the "#PopStarsDontEat" hashtag could be misinterpreted as encouraging eating disorders because she posits herself as a role model to her fans.

The National Eating Disorder Association even weighed in, hitting its own Twitter account to write, "Huh? This is the same person who recently implored girls to stop dieting?"

MTV Buzzworthy has an Open Letter To Lady Gaga
While it seems clear that Gaga was joking — who hasn't dove into a salad wishing it was something else? — the comment does appear out of character for the star, who has spoken publicly about her own struggles with an eating disorder as a teen.
Using that particular hashtag might have been a poor choice, but it's safe to say Lady Gaga wasn't knowingly making light of eating disorders — and, otherwise, wasn't she mostly just encouraging exercise and healthy eating?
Gaga tweets often about all sort of less-than-healthful habits, from drinking ("after 12 margaritas my phone was confiscated") to, well, other things ("princess xena of xanaxland has lil secrets in her inbox"). Why she is being scrutinized for making an observation about something we already know — that celebrities engage in intense fitness regimens to meet the unrealistic expectations placed on their appearance — is kind of a mystery.
But, you know, totally appropriate and necessary reason for outrage, everyone.
